eighty-eight keys damp with hurt
rhythm of the rain

Leafless branches embrace a darkening sky,
Frail arms reaching for one last breath.
The horizon consumes the sun, yet leaves a chandelier behind.
In pale moonlight the mighty oak is laid to rest.
